Designed to inspire the next generation of women creative leaders in East London elle is a bespoke mentoring and coaching programme developed by The Legacy List, Leaders Lab and Birkbeck, University of London. March 2015 saw the inaugural elle symposium take place, where a panel of speakers debated models of leadership, and how a new generation of women could transform the arts and culture sector. Two films were created, one to set up the debate, and one to close looking to the future and offering career advice. The opening film featured a number of leading figures in the creative and cultural sector, with insights from Laura Haynes (Appetite), Alistair Spalding (Sadler's Wells), Sue Hoyle (Clore Leadership Programme), Pauline Tambling (Creative and Cultural Skills), Dr Gus Casely-Hayford (cultural historian), Clare Connor (Southbank Centre) and Maria Delgado (Queen Mary, University of London). The closing film also featured elle associates Cat Gray (The Yard), Natalia Barua (East London Dance) and Asma Hussain (Theatre Royal Stratford East).
