Adam Chodzko - Rising

Film produced for 'Rising'

Artist Adam Chodzko has created Rising,an audio co-commission between Great North Run Culture and Invisible Dust, performed by actress Gretchen Egolf. 'Rising' is an extraordinary, waterlogged, dreamlike future for the Great North Run, where runners have adapted physically and psychologically to their increasingly aquatic environment of flash flooding and rising water levels bought about through climate change.

As part of the British Science Festival 2013, Chodzko produced this audio work for fatigued athletes and their supporters to listen to directly after the September race whilst on their way back home. The first live performance of 'Rising', with sound by Tim Barker, took place on the 7th September in the Tynesdie Cinema, Newcastle, where this footage was captured.

'Rising' is also part of the Invisible Dust project, Invisible Heat, funded by The Wellcome Trust, partnering leading artist and scientists to produce new work related to climate change.
